Dr David Acquaye

Deputy Head of Department, Programme Leader for Banking and Business Finance.

David’s teaching career spans over a period of 15 years. Eight of these have been in the Higher Education (HE) Sector. He has really enjoyed teaching over this period of time because he has always viewed it as a privilege to have an opportunity to make a contribution to the learners’ career development.

Overview

Before joining University of Chester in September, 2015, he taught on programmes run by Cardiff Metropolitan University and Anglia Ruskin University through the London School of Commerce. David taught both undergraduate and postgraduate modules. His main modules over these years of teaching at the HE level have been Corporate Finance (Levels 6 & 7); Financial Analysis Management (Level 7); Case Study Analysis (Level 7); Quantitative Methods in Finance (Level 4) and Managerial Accounting (Levels 4&5). He has also developed special expertise in the supervision of dissertation and business development proposals.

His teaching methods are based on realist pedagogical philosophy which has earned him several awards such as ‘Excellence in Teaching’-Above And Beyond 2016 awards (University of Chester) and Outstanding Teacher Fellowship Award, 2012 (Cardiff Metropolitan University). Outside the classroom, David has actively engaged in the activities of Quality Assurance and Enhancement (QAE) and Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) boards. These involvements have put him in a better position to create an excellent learning experience for the student.
