About Chester

From its beginnings as a Roman fortress 2,000 years ago, Chester has managed to retain its unique character whilst offering everything that you would expect from a modern city today, as it becomes "a must-see European destination".

A must-see European destination
The Chester Renaissance

The City of Chester is a vibrant mix of cafes, shops and ancient walls, rows and architectural and archaeological features. The City is home to all-year-round arts festivals, events, exhibitions and street entertainment, including the famous Chester Races, the Rowing Regatta and the internationally acclaimed Chester Zoo.

A host of clubs, pubs, bars and restaurants contribute to Chester's vibrant nightlife, as well as providing our students with a wide range of part-time work opportunities. The Students' Union has links with clubs in the City centre, which hold exclusive student nights, with prices to match.

Chester also holds many attractions for sports fans. You could be sailing or canoeing on the River Dee, go-karting, paint-balling, or watching professional football, polo or basketball. Chester has also been awarded a "stage" in the national cycling tour series.

Chester is ideally placed for those who love the outdoors, within easy reach of England's North West, as well as the Snowdonia National Park and the North Wales coast.

The City of Chester is the perfect backdrop against which our students can achieve their best.
