Tim Cook

After a 30+ year career with Shell, mainly working in the field of Process Control and Automation, Tim retired from the company in 2015. As well as holding both practitioner and management roles in control automation engineering, he has held various posts in the global training/learning organisation within Shell and has developed courses for graduate engineers and has also delivered many courses.

He joined the University of Chester as a visiting lecturer last year to teach process control and automation.

Overview

Tim has held a range of different positions/roles in Shell, in different parts of the world, on Oil refineries (including Stanlow!), Chemical and Gas plants as well as at Head Office. Before that he worked for ICI for 2 years as a control & instrumentation engineer. He has spent over half his working life in the Netherlands. In the latter part of Tim’s career he moved into the Competence, Learning and Development area. Tim’s passions are solving engineering problems and problem-based teaching and learning.
