There is an established and growing cohort of WBIS students taking a variety of awards at the Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge. The hospital manager responsible for setting up the cohort says: "It's really useful being able to have an input into the design of the courses... By doing this we know that we impart the latest thinking and techniques to our staff, which not only allows them to perform better at work but also contributes towards their qualifications... It's an excellent programme and the way it is set up gives both the hospital and our staff so much flexibility." Taken from a Learning through Work Interview.
"I have four Decision Makers currently undertaking the higher programmes at the moment. They're getting on well and the difference in them personally and the improvements in their work and the influence they have on the team is already evident." A HEO DM managers' evaluations taken from the WBIS HEFCE Report, July 2009.
"The main benefit of the programme for me is that it takes you ‘back to your roots'. As a HEO Decision Maker you see cases everyday and although you don't necessarily make the decisions, you need to understand the decision making process and complex cases to be able to advise, coach and mentor your Decision Makers. The programme really is great for that, along with the complementing modules such as leadership and management skills, which give you a more strategic and reflective approach to managing staff" A HEO DM managers' evaluations taken from the WBIS HEFCE Report, July 2009.
