Lisa Rowe

Director of Business Engagement and Partnerships

Lisa joined the University as a Business Development & Programme Manager and visiting lecturer in 2011. She previously spent 11 years as a Business Development Manager for Lloyds Banking Group and 7 years managing a team at the University of Law.

Overview

She developed, launched and managed the highly acclaimed Chester Business Master’s programme, becoming a Senior Lecturer whilst teaching tourism and events management and supervising work-based master’s projects. More recently she has led the development of one of the first Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeships in the UK, ensuring the appropriate design and provision of bespoke work-based academic qualifications. She has uniquely mapped both the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) qualifications into degree apprenticeship modules.

She is currently leading the development of business and management degree apprenticeships within the Faculty and supporting programme growth across the university, working in partnership with business leaders, professional institutes, other universities, colleges, providers, agencies and other faculties to ensure the collaborative design and development of a comprehensive and accredited portfolio of degree level apprenticeships, to meet the needs of a wide range of organisations across a number of sectors. She is also developing masters and doctoral apprenticeships for senior executives.

Lisa manages the ILM Centre at the University and the Cheshire Professional Institute Network. She sits on the Chester Growth Partnership Inward Investment Board, Cheshire West Skills Strategy Board and is a judge for the Cheshire Business Awards. She is also an external adviser for Birkbeck University of London, Teeside, University, University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), UCLan Burnley College & University of Huddersfield.

Her academic research interests focus upon graduate employability, critical workplace skills, work-based learning and personal resilience in the workplace.
