David Evans

Senior Lecturer and Assessment Officer
As the longest serving member of staff in Biological Sciences (37 years and counting!), David Evans has seen enormous growth and huge changes in the institution and the department.

Overview

After graduating with degrees in Biochemistry and Zoology from Liverpool University, he took a PGCE and taught in secondary schools. In 1972 he came to what was then Chester College as a lecturer, training teachers of primary and secondary science. He was awarded an MEd degree in 1982. Since then he has taught most aspects of biology on various courses as diverse as biomedical sciences, sports science, orthoptics, health and community studies, dietetics and animal behaviour.

Teaching

In recent years his teaching has been concentrated on physiology and pathology. He is currently module leader for:

  • BI4110 Essential Physiology
  • BI5111 Biology of Disease
  • BI6132 Physiology and Behaviour

He also serves as the Department's Assessment Officer, trying to ensure that assessments are correctly set and processed and dealing with the inevitable problems that arise.
