Dr Emma Beddoes

Visiting Lecturer

Emma qualified from the University of Manchester Medical School in 2005. During her time there, she completed research projects in such diverse areas as the family impact of childhood eczema, the epidemiology of hypertension in Sub-Saharan Africa and the history of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Overview

Upon qualification , Emma completed her Foundation Programme at Leighton Hospital, Crewe where she undertook rotations in General Medicine, General Surgery, General Practice and Paediatrics.

In 2007, Emma began a Specialist Training Programme in General Practice at Macclesfield District General Hospital undertaking rotations in General Practice, Emergency Medicine, General Medicine and Paediatrics. In 2009 she left the programme to pursue a teaching career in Higher Education.

Emma works with the charity Mercy Projects International to provide support for the Hearts of Love Centre in Konotop, Ukraine, an educational and resource centre for disabled children. She works with colleagues to increase the children's access to medical care.

Emma works as a Pregnancy Crisis Advisor for Options Pregnancy Choices Service, a local Chester charity, counselling women and men experiencing a crisis pregnancy and providing post-abortion support.

In her spare time, Emma is an active member of Northgate Church, Chester and helps run a weekly youth club for local children there. She also enjoys reading, walking, researching her family history and, sometimes, just doing nothing!
