Virginia Seager

Head BMS Cytopathology, Cervical Screening Manager - Wrexham Maelor Hospital

Virginia has been employed in the Pathology Department at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital since 1970, initially as a "Junior A" Laboratory Technician, studying for HND in Biomedical Science at John Moore's Liverpool.

Overview

This involved two years working & studying all Pathology disciples - before specialising & achieving a fellowship in Cellular Pathology. In 1984 she became Senior Biomedical Scientist & later Head BMS in Cytology.

A native of Mold with very Yorkshire roots, Virginia's interests include researching Family history, exploring Wales (scenery, eating & drinking), Yorkshire (roots) & Italy (Scenery, food & wine & history!).

Teaching

As well as the lecture introducing Cytopathology in Chester, Virginia lectures on Cytology to other professional organisations involved in the cervical screening programme-including GP & Practice Nurses & Pathology open study days.

Research

Research interests involve cervical disease prevalence in the under 25s interests.
