The Harlequin Project

Since 2004, Harlequin has been helping musicians, performing arts groups, churches and community organisations to promote their work through information technologies and digital media.

The Harlequin project helps locally-based independent artists and groups to store, promote and publish their creative work, usually musical and theatre productions. The initiative enables select students to compliment their academic studies and enhance their employability through real work experience direct with industry.

Recent work includes the development of a content-managed web site for a community project, the production of a soundtrack for Theatre in the Quarter, an audition DVD for a Chester choir (who featured in the BBC's Last Choir Standing series), and a 'behind-the-scenes' DVD of rehearsals and preparation for the 2008 production of the internationally-renowned Chester Mystery Plays. This project is part of the consultancy and knowledge transfer work of the Department.
