Andy Davies, Lecturer

Andy Davies studied his first degree at Chester before undertaking his Masters degree in Interactive Digital Media; this included a study on teaching and learning technologies, specifically, bridging the gap between academia and enterprise through dynamic interactive technologies. Andy has spent time working professionally in Central London and the North-west of England working on numerous computing-related projects and is a recognised teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Outside academia Andy is a passionate creative, cinematographer and music producer, spending much of his own time shooting short films and writing music. He is also a closet Wolverhampton Wanderers fan despite growing up in the heart of Buckinghamshire in the South-east of England.

Andy has been teaching in higher education for four years and is module leader for Introduction to Web Technologies, Digital Audio, Introduction to User Experience and Design for Digital Environments. He is heavily involved with dissertation supervision and is currently supervising an MSc thesis researching the effectiveness of touch screen interaction. During the 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic terms Andy was nominated for the University of Chester’s ‘Above & Beyond Awards’ for: Most Inspiring Lecturer, Most innovative Lecturer, and Most Outstanding PAT/Mentor.


His research interests include technology in education, digital media and user experience design. Andy specialises in the following computing sub-disciplines:
