Linda Rayner, Head of Department for Computer Science

Linda joined the Computer Science Department as an Undergraduate Student in 1996 after returning to studying as a mature student. I have since completed my PhD and now act as Head of Department for Computer Science which runs a number of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes.

I have taught on a variety of Undergraduate and Postgraduate modules including Programming, Multimedia, Software Engineering Research Methods and Technology Enhanced Learning to name a few. I currently teach Games Development and Information Systems Management at Level 6 and Programming to teachers on the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Computer Science in Schools.

My research primarily concerns the pedagogy of teaching Computer Science  and in the use of computer technology as tools to aid this process. My PhD looked at how face-to-face and eLearning modes of delivery differed. I have an interest in the impact technology has on society, its implications, successes and problems.
