Vicki Silver

Wider Workforce Development Officer, Senior Lecturer
Vicki joined the faculty in September 2011. She teaches across the Undergraduate and Post Graduate Early Years programmes. She also works with the Early years sector to support the development of quality in Early Years provision. She has a wide range of experience of teaching and training from early years to adults. Her early professional life was within the health and social care sector as researcher and trainer.
 
Having subsequently trained to teach the Primary/Middle age range, she taught in Primary school in Hull, as well as working for the Adult Education Service and youth training schemes as a trainer. She was seconded to work at Bishop Burton College of Agriculture in E Yorks as school liaison officer, where she was responsible for organising visits by children from Nursery to Secondary age to the college, taking animals into schools, and helping schools to develop their curriculum outside the classroom. She then held a lectureship teaching environmental education programmes to undergraduates.
 
Since then she has worked for Cheshire West and Chester Council. For 7 years, she was Head of Beeston Outdoor Education Centre, delivering residential programmes for children aged 3-15 in rural Cheshire, developing quality out of the classroom experiences. From this post, she spent nearly 7 years as Workforce Development Manager, with special responsibility for supporting the professional development of Early Years and Playwork practitioners.
