Developing Countries

In the last 10 years more than 250 students have completed placements in an international development context.

A significant number of our students use the (compulsory, University-wide) end of Year 2 Work-Based Learning module as an opportunity to gain meaningful experience of community based development work overseas. Some arrange their own placements, while others benefit from long-established links between the University and partner organisations in the UK and abroad.

In the last 10 years more than 250 students have completed placements in an international development context - in environments as diverse as the Cheshire Development Education Centre (Chester), the Monteverde (rain forest) Institute of Costa Rica, Andean villages of Peru and an eco-tourism project in the Rift Valley of Central Africa. Other popular placements are in South Africa, Brazil and SE Asia.
