Liverpool Fieldtrip

I found it really interesting, the fieldwork was invaluable to me as it gave me great insight to the life of asylum seekers. It also helped with great teamwork skills."

As an International Development Studies (IDS) student, you will be offered the chance to engage in small group project work with black and minority ethnic community (BME) groups in Liverpool. You will meet with a variety of different groups based in the city, which for example include Congolese, Yemeni, Chinese and Pakistani community associations. This will allow you to explore and gain first-hand experience of the real present day challenges and issues faced by these groups, such as integration and funding for community support. You will also investigate organisations that support the immigrant and refugee communities, including Asylum Link Merseyside.
