Dr A C Simpson

Charles graduated from Manchester with a BSc in Mathematics in 1981. He then worked in the food industry for a number of years.

In 1991 he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Microelectronics and Computer Technology from Birmingham Polytechnic. He has been associated with the University of Chester since 1995 where he obtained an MSc in Mathematics in 1996 and a PhD in Mathematics in 2001. He joined the Department of Mathematics as a Research Assistant in 2004.

  • Member of the London Mathematical Society

At Chester, Charles has taught computer courses on MATLAB, and LaTeX, a computerized typesetting system. Currently he is involved in teaching basic statistics, finite mathematics and mathematical modelling.

In 2003 he also obtained an MSc in Industrial Biotechnology from LJMU where he did some research in to the thermophilic digestion of activated sludge.

His research interests include fractional calculus and the development of computer programs.
