Sport Scholarship Scheme

The University of Chester is dedicated to supporting excellence in the interdisciplinary study of sport, including excellence in sports performance.

This objective underpins the establishment of the Sports Scholarship Scheme which is organised and managed by the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences. This scheme aims to cater for elite level sports people who wish to follow a course of study at Chester whilst maintaining and/or improving their sporting excellence. Scholarships are offered on a selective basis to suitably qualified applicants.

Applicants will be required to represent the University of Chester at the highest level, where possible and appropriate, as well as make contributions to student and community sport. The scholarships are usually offered to students who have gained standard admission to an academic course of study at Chester on the basis of their academic qualifications. Applicants will be expected to achieve specified sports performance standards and the award of a scholarship cannot be guaranteed.

University of Chester Sports Scholarships are available to:

Undergraduate students of the University who can demonstrate active representation at national / international level. This includes national ranking in a particular sport or actively competing in national leagues / competitions.

Applications for sports scholarships may be made by existing and prospective undergraduate students of the University of Chester.
