Overview

I have been involved in two working parties for the Church of England National Youth Strategy. One on young people and worship and the other on training volunteer youth workers which has meant putting together core competencies for those working with and for young people on behalf of the Church of England.

This is now published and is called Equipping. I was also a member of a working party called mutual expectations, which was set up to see what the Church of England could expect from church colleges and vice versa.

Other interests:

  • My two daughters
  • Friends
  • Emerging Church/ worship
  • The Iona Community
  • Sanctus1 in Manchester
  • Bread church and Dream network in Liverpool

I have also helped facilitate worship all over the country, including helping to co-ordinate the Taizé worship at Greenbelt in 2005 and 2006.

Another passion I have is for enabling young people to use their voice in their community, church and wherever they find themselves.

I am interested in how we look after those on the margins of the church (whether it is perceived or real) and what we should be doing for them.

I am part of the chaplaincy team here at the University. Singing, playing my guitar and keyboard are also things I love to do but never seem to find time to practice - unfortunately.

The other thing for which I am noted is that I tend to change my hair colour every few weeks.

I am currently studying for my Doctorate in Practical Theology through the University of Birmingham. The area of research is around young people and how they can be enabled to participate more within church - if they want to be.

Published work

I was one of a group of four who worked collaboratively to write Youth Emmaus 2 which was published late 2006.
