Since completing my general nurse training in 1986, I have spent an exciting career working in the private sector and within the specialism of occupational health.

BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner (Occupational Health); MSc Health Promotion and Public Health; MSc Education. Doctor of Education .
 
Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Overview

My professional development has focused on acquiring knowledge on public health at the University of Lancaster and on Education via the University of Chester.

Experience has been gained throughout my career in managing provision of occupational health services in a variety of workplace settings. Upon moving into Higher Education I have sought to develop Occupational Health Nurses who are fit for contemporary practice. In addition to developing a professional doctorate programme for public health practitioners.
 
In seeking to develop Occupational Health provision I am a member of the Association of Occupational Health Tutors and have represented the NMC as a programme reviewer.

Teaching

I teach on the Doctor of Public Health programme, the MSc Professional Nursing programme focusing on advanced nursing and leadership skills, and the MSc & BSc Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner programme (Occupational Health). 
 
I have input into the BSc Pre-registration programme, where I teach public health.
 
I am an External Examiner for South Bank University and the Open University.

Research

My current area of research interest is the effects of E-Health Promotion in the workplace.
