Lindsey Nicholls

Lecturer, Public Health and Wellbeing

I achieved my DIPHe in Adult Nursing here at the University of Chester in 2006. Following qualification I worked on an acute medical ward for the elderly where I was able to complete my preceptorship and undertook many courses including venepuncture and cannulation. I went on to work as a community nurse, specialised in wound care, and undertook most of my professional BSc degree at the University of Chester, in dermatology and tissue viability.

In 2013 I obtained a position as a Skin Care specialist nurse in the community, which cemented my knowledge and skills regarding dermatology, tissue viability and leg ulcer care. Aswell as exposing me to safeguarding, complex management and teaching. I have experience working in CHC, Dementia GP link nurse and completed work for Age UK Cheshire as well as volunteer work with Healthbox CIC.

I have completed my Masters in Public Health and Nutrition at the University of Chester, and has developed into a love of public health and nutrition. I  joined the University as a lecturer in January 2017 and I hope to share my knowledge and experiences with students

My past research dissertations have concentrated on childhood obesity and the impact of this into adulthood. Reviewing children’s lunches from age 6-11 and parental perceptions.

I have a keen interest in public health, nutrition and nursing but particularly childhood obesity and adult obesity and the long term effects on health.

I will be undertaking my Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education in September 2017 and following completion of this I hope to commence further research in my areas of interest.
