Sarah Ellison

Senior Lecturer, Public Health and Wellbeing

Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse (Adult ) in 1995 I have extensive experience across both acute and community settings. I started my career on an acute Elderly medical ward and then gained more specialist knowledge by working on a cardiology ward. I then worked on Coronary care and Critical Care areas.

Following completion of my BSc in Health and Social care with the main focus of my studies based on cardiology I then started as a Cardiac specialist nurse working in the Community. During this time I assisted in establishing a Community based Heart failure Specialist nurse service.

Throughout my career I have updated my practice to meet the ever-growing demands of specialist nursing. Incorporating the many elements of advanced practice in my role, this has included studies in advanced practice, mentoring and becoming an independent non-medical prescriber. I have also been an Advanced life support provider and instructor in the past.

More recently I have worked closely with the integrated care teams across the area.
