The Faculty of Humanities has a strong and growing reputation for research, leading the University in the 2008 RAE results. Scholars are active in pursuing research of international standard in all departments in the Faculty. This strength in academic reputation of staff is reflected in the recruitment of research students, with more students in the Faculty of Humanities than any other.
This highly active research culture is supported by research seminar programmes with contributions from visiting academics, researchers in the Faculty and research student. The Faculty also provides staff development funds to support academics in their research above what is provided at departmental level.
