Working after your studies
The British government made a series of announcements on 22 March and 31 March 2011 outlining changes that will be made to Tier 4 (student) and Tier 1 (post study work) rules. These changes will affect international students coming to the UK. The changes will be implemented in three phases: 21 April 2011, summer 2011 and April 2012.
The current post-study work route will remain unchanged until April 2012. After April 2012 it will be replaced by a new scheme which will allow UK university graduates to switch into Tier 2 category. You will only be able to switch to Tier 2 if you secure a graduate level job and meet all the UK Border Agency requirements. Please keep checking the UKBA website for more details.
