Induction

For all students, the University of Chester offers an Induction Programme. This takes place during the week before semester one teaching begins.

For international and EU students additional specific sessions are given to help you become familiar with your new surroundings. These include: 

  • A specialised learning support session
  • A chance to meet with the local Police Officer and learn about personal safety
  • Registering with the Police - this is a UK Borders Agency requirement for certain students
  • Registering with a local doctor and information on using the National Health Service www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk
  • Meeting Careers and Employability staff and learning about working in the UK
  • Specialised city tours with the International Mentors 
  • Opening a bank account
  • Providing your passport, visa and ID card to be copied - this is a UKBA requirement for all overseas visa national students
  • Meeting the staff from Student Support and Guidance 
  • Joining in with social events run by the International Mentors and find out about ‘Cultureshock'
  • International Welcome meeting where you will meet the Vice Chancellor
