However, a small number of honours programmes, such as Teacher Training, may take four years. A range of Chester Business School programmes are also available as a four year undergraduate degree with a year in industry, where in the third year of the course students undertake a professional paid work placement. Many students find that a year’s placement enhances their academic performance and increases their employability.
Those of you applying for an honours degree would normally study for one of the following qualifications:
• BA (Bachelor of Arts)
• BSc (Bachelor of Science)
• BEd (Bachelor of Education)
• BTh (Bachelor of Theology)
• LLB (Bachelor of Laws)

All of the taught degree programmes follow a flexible modular pattern. Undergraduate students usually take six modules each full year of study. All our undergraduate programmes are taught using a combination of formal lectures and seminars where students are encouraged to develop their own views. The sessions also include exercises, case studies, discussions, presentations, lectures from experts in the respective industries and field visits where applicable.
We have a national reputation for our innovative Work Based Learning modules( each year we find placements for approx. 1000 students) , which form an integral part of our undergraduate courses. Most students undertake the Work Based Module during the second year of their degree programme. This involves spending a number of weeks working for an organisation followed by submission of a report.
A number of our programmes are accredited by professional bodies, and we work closely with regional employers to make certain that our degrees prepare you for the competitive world of work.
