The United Kingdom has a well-deserved reputation world-wide for providing outstanding quality and reputable higher education.

Public Higher Education sector has among the best quality assurance in the world, Universities are subjected to strict control exercises carried out by a number of government appointed independent bodies. This ensures that there are no poor quality institutions and so no matter where you study you will receive a first class education. The University of Chester is committed to maintaining high academic standards, in fact the quality of educational provision at the University of Chester have been praised in the latest reports by higher education watchdogs (QAA and Ofsted).

The university’s growth aspirations and pursuit of academic excellence is also reflected in the fact that a significant proportion of the University’s research was declared to be of international quality following the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, with world-leading work in several areas including Drama, Dance and Performing Arts. The UK does not have an official system of university rankings, however, there are several comparative guides produced by UK newspapers.

The University of Chester has been consistently improving its presence and position within various national higher education rankings. According to latest statistics we have been ranked 68th out of 116 Higher Education Institutions in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2012/13.This places us as fourth in the North West and top of what are known and the "new" universities.

In addition to an overall University ranking, a number of subjects taught at the University of Chester have been singled out by various major national newspaper league tables as representing the very top of their field in key areas of their work.
