Country-specific entry requirements and information for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
Please note that these are general entry requirements. Some courses may have additional entry requirements such as previous work experience, submission of written work or previous study of a particular subject. Some courses, for example those in the faculty of Health and Social Care or MSc Marketing Communications and Public Relations, may require a higher level of English.
Undergraduate (Bachelor's Degree)
Academic requirements
- West African Higher School Certificate / GCE A level
- Higher National Diploma
- Certificate (Undergraduate University Programme)
English Language requirements
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with scores of at least 51 in all 4 components
- West African School Certificate / GCE O Level English language grades A-C
- IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band)
- TOEFL with score of: listening 21, reading 22, speaking 23, writing 21
- TEEP 6.0
Postgraduate (Master's Degree)
Academic requirements
- Bachelor degree
English Language requirements
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with overall score of 57 and no less than 51 in any component
- West African School Certificate / GCE O Level English language grades A-C
- IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in each band)
- TOEFL IBT with an overall score of 90 and the following minimum scores in the components: listening 21, reading 22, speaking 23, writing 21
- TEEP 6.5

Postgraduate (Research Degree)
Academic requirements
Each application is assessed on its own merits but we do expect students to hold the following:
- Master's degree (2 years) / Master of Philosophy degree where the programme is highly research based with completion of a substantial thesis
English Language requirements
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) Postgraduate 58 and no less than 51 in any component
- IELTS 7.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band)
- TOEFL 100 (internet) and the following minimum scores in the components: listening 21, reading 22, speaking 23, writing 21
- TEEP 7.0
