Following a history degree in 1980 at the University of Nottingham I entered the Civil Service and worked in various departments in many locations for the next 15 years.A change of direction in my career took me to the part-time CPE at Manchester Metropolitan University, and I followed this with the on the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law,Chester as my ambition was to become a fully qualified solicitor.
Family circumstances then interrupted any legal aspirations and took my family abroad for 8-9 years to Latin America. During this period I studied for an external Masters in Law with University of London and graduated with merit in October 2004.
Having gained some experience of lecturing work on a VL contract at John Moores, and also begun the PGCHE at Chester, I was offered a fractional post in the new law dept in July 2006.
This resulted in the opportunity for a fulltime post in the following April 2007 and I was appointed in May 2007. Since September 2007 I have led the European Union Law at level 5( 2nd year),and Intellectual Property and Company Law modules at Level 6, and taught on ELS & CLS modules.
In August 2010 I was promoted to Senior Lecturer, and have also been appointed Programme Leader for the Masters in Contemporary Legal studies [LLM]
I am also currently writing a textbook on Company law for Pearson Longman with fellow lecturer, Phil Hunter.
I lead & teach modules in European Union law to second year law students, and Intellectual Property law & Company Law to third year law students.
