Prior to entering Higher Education, Mike worked as a photojournalist for the Wirral News Group, an industrial photographic finisher, printer and restoration artist for North West Photographic Services and as a freelance designer.


Mike has taught a range of technical and creative subjects across a number of levels. He has worked as a technical instructor for the University of Chester’s Department of Art and Design, as course writer and Lecturer in Digital Imaging and Design Skills for West Cheshire College, Lecturer in Computer Science at Mid Cheshire College and Visiting Lecturer in Advertising at the University of Chester.


Mike spent a year as a graduate researcher based at the University of Liverpool as part of a research project into smart cities and the creation of applications that utilise ‘big data’. He is also interested in digitally manipulated images and their potential in mainstream political bias and applications within advertising.
