The Department of Marketing, Tourism & Events Management, was established in 2007 to reflect the increasing interest in these exciting and innovative subject areas.
We provide a portfolio of undergraduate programmes which are underpinned by strong academic and practitioner links both locally and nationally. All our programmes have been carefully designed and developed to reflect the needs of the respective industries and to reflect the vocational nature of the disciplines by linking theory with practice.
The academic staff come from a diverse variety of backgrounds which effectively combines both academic and practitioner experience. Many members of staff are research-active in their fields.
The department produces graduates who are highly employable and many of our graduates have found key positions in the sector locally, nationally and internationally.
The department also offers a range of much sought after Work-Based Learning opportunities, which all students have to undertake during their second year of study as part of their degree programme. This gives students the opportunity to experience the industry first hand and get some insight into the profession. Students also have the option of undertaking a year's industrial paid placement with an organisation in their chosen field; many students go on to seek employment with this employer.
