Studying dance at Chester was a very rewarding experience
Emily Brown

Emily has been part of some exciting projects during her final year of study which include her solo contribution entitled Helix Cecelia to the Company Chameleon project ‘7’ (see video below). Emily’s dance film (in collaboration with fellow dance student Frances Mulcahy) entitled A Matter of Things Unseen was shown at the 8th Dance for Camera Festival at the University of Utah (USA). Emily was also part of a stimulating exchange programme to Brazil where she engaged in Capoeira classes and festivals and Community Arts Projects facilitated by the University of Chester’s Work-Based Learning Department. Emily is currently studying towards an MA Performance and is part of Mapdance Company (University of Chichester) where she will be part of a national tour during 2012.

Emily shares the following about her experience at Chester;

“Studying dance at Chester was a very rewarding experience. The course gave a balance of academic and practical work, providing an informed and well-rounded perspective on the arts world. The nurturing yet challenging atmosphere enabled me to develop my own work based on what really interests me. My time at Chester gave me the skills needed to pursue a career in dance, and the confidence to think differently about the arts.”
