Summer Newsletter

Welcome to the third Chester Business School Newsletter.  It has been a very busy term with Level 5 soon to be leaving us to commence their Work Based Learning.

This is my favourite time of year as students embark on their Easter holidays and our Level 5 students go out on the work based learning module to avail themselves of never to be forgotten learning experiences in such far flung places as Disney, Florida and China.

In this edition we look back at all the guest speakers that MTEM have invited over the past year and the guest lecture given by Phil Evans, Head of Strategy at the National Tourist Board, VisitEngland.

We find out all about a Level 6 Tourism and events Management student Heidi Coventry’s trip to South Africa. A big congratulations goes to one of our students on the DBA Roy Williams who is the Chief Executive of One Vision Housing Association and which came first in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not- For-Profit Organisations to work for in 2012-well done to him and his team!

Two students who graduated in 2011 Ennis McAvera & Sophia Tirelli, both BA (Hons) Event Management recall their time at Chester and the fun they had whilst studying here. We also learn about the highly successful business bootcamp which was run by the University and West Cheshire College in early March.

Finally another point to note is that Tim Brown one of our lecturers has been asked to help co-ordinate the 350 volunteers required for the Chester leg of the Olympic Torch Relay-no doubt he will have lots of tales to tell us about it after the event!

  • If you would like to add anything for the September edition of this newsletter please can you send me material by Friday 7th September 2012. I hope you have an enjoyable and safe summer!
