An Ode to Cheese

Rhys Jones is in the second year of his degree in Creative Writing with English.

O varied shaped lumps, thou art lovely

Sat on thy perch in the fridge,

Wrapped all in cling-film.

Thy subtle shades of white, yellow

And speckled blue are most

Delightful to mine eyes.

O Brie, Wensleydale and Cheddar

How I can’t help but adore thee.

Thy pungent aroma

Sets my nasal hair aquiver.

And whilst some may turn and forget

You know that I shall never ignore,

For thy addition to bland breads and

Crackers, creates delight within the senses

And for this, I love thee

O cheese!
