Salsa party comes to Chester

Posted on 27th January 2014

Red Bird events, a company established by Events Management students from the University of Chester, are inviting members of the public to put on their dancing shoes and join them for a Latin American fiesta in aid of a local charity.

As well as supporting a good cause we hope the fiesta will promote community cohesion between students and the wider local community. The event is open to all, whether you’re an experience dancer or have no experience at all; come along and try something new!

‘Fiesta de Salsa’, which takes place on Tuesday, February 4, from 7pm at the Red Door in Chester, will feature Salsa lessons from the team that hosts Latin Mania Salsa nights at Telford’s Warehouse, a dance demonstration from Christine Stockton of Deva Flamenco and guests will experience the flavour of Latin America through a selection of tapas and canapés.

All proceeds of the event will be donated to Live!, a charity which promotes choice and inclusion for children and young people with and without disabilities, and ensures their individual rights.

Alexandra Woolley, one of the event organisers, said:“We are really excited to be hosting this event in aid of Live! from which we hope to make a minimum donation of £250. As well as supporting a good cause we hope the fiesta will promote community cohesion between students and the wider local community. The event is open to all, whether you’re an experience dancer or have no experience at all; come along and try something new!”

Sandra Pollitt from Live! said: “ This event really fits in well with our dance related activities here at Live!. The charity works to promote inclusion for all disabled people and dance is an ideal medium in which to do so.The money raised will be used to fund dance based activities for a wide range of disabled children and young people in the Chester area.”

Tickets are available in advance for £7 from redbirdevents@yahoo.co.uk and will also be available to purchase on the door for £8.
