A film co-produced by a former student of the University of Chester's Media Department has won the Royal Television Society (Midlands) Award for Best Factual Programme 2014.

The documentary, The Harms of Hate, beat programmes made for the BBC and Channel 4 to scoop the prestigious award.

This isn't the first time that the documentary's co-producer and former Chester student Hayley Evans has had her work recognized by the Royal Television Society. Four years ago Hayley's student work was also recognized by the Royal Television Society and by the BBC Partnership Awards two years running.

Hayley said: "I feel incredibly proud and honoured to have won the Royal Television Award for Best Factual Production, and strongly feel like part of this achievement is thanks to the fantastic tuition and support I received whilst studying at the University of Chester."
