During her undergraduate degree, Sophie was President of the University’s People and Planet Society and volunteered with the Citizens Advice Bureau, both of which developed her interest in discrimination law and carrying out research into equality and diversity.

Sophie is a massive football fan, so is particularly concerned with discrimination issues in the sport and ways in which it can become more inclusive, particularly for managers and coaches.

Sophie’s research aims to consider the ways in which the Positive Action provisions under the Equality Act 2010 can be used to increase the representation of BME football managers and coaches, and how any such policies would be received.
