Our radio station has won the Student Radio Association's 2016 award for Best Training Initiative.

Chester Wins Radio Award

The award was announced at the National Student Radio Conference on 31 March 2016.

The University of Chester's Cat Radio (named after the famous Cheshire Cat!) triumphed against strong competition from seven other stations.

Current students and graduates were swift to respond to the news on social media.

Radio student Russ Pollard tweeted: "Another great night for Media at Chester! Let's face it, as a university it's the one you want!"

Award-winning radio graduate Harry Colley added: "Massive congratulations! Great to see the station progressing each and every year!"

The award comes just a fortnight after the station honoured students' achievements at our own annual radio awards.

Head of Media Dr Alec Charles commented: "This award celebrates the great work of our brilliant radio team. Our radio station offers a hugely creative and supportive environment for learning and for broadcasting, and richly deserves this prestigious award."
