The aims of the module are to:

  • Provide you with an opportunity to investigate systematically and in depth a topic of direct relevance to your chosen area of application. 
  • Enable you to draw on and contribute to the development of the growing body of applied knowledge and evidence-based practice.


By the end of the module, you will be able to:

  • Critically appraise literature relating to research topic and synthesise findings to formulate a research question. 
  • Critically evaluate the interface between theory, research and professional practice. 
  • Justify selection of research approach, design and data analysis within dissertation. 
  • Critically reflect and analyse the professional, ethical and legal implications of the research study. 
  • Demonstrate competence in conducting the research study. 
  • Synthesise data to develop insights informed by existing knowledge and contributing to new knowledge. 
  • Disseminate and/or publish research findings and recommendations.
