Chester Professor prepares for battle! Prof Mike Boulton invited to speak at Europe’s premier ideas festival

Posted on 4th October 2016

Prof. Mike Boulton has been invited to speak at the 12th annual Battle of Ideas at the Barbican in London on 22 & 23 October. The conference is billed as Europe’s premier ideas festival and features two days of thought-provoking public debate, with over 400 speakers and thousands of attendees.

Prof. Boulton is presenting as part of a session entitled ‘Are schools producing Generation Snowflake’. This discussion will explore whether schools are socialising students into a mind-set of vulnerability and hypersensitivity or if this is a simplistic caricature.

Mike will contribute to the debate by drawing on his research into the links between children’s relationships and well-being. Mike believes that while current approaches to tackling bullying are helpful in many respects, it is now time for a radical re-think. This is especially true in the ‘digital age’ with its almost unlimited opportunities for cyber bullying.
