Our new gallery hosts an exhibition by photographer Phil Barton.

The third weekend of October has seen the North West Media Centre Tower Gallery at the University of Chester's Warrington campus play host to 'Nature Rearranged', an exhibition of work by photographer Phil Barton.

The newly built gallery opened earlier this year. This is the second exhibition to be held in the gallery since it was launched in the summer as part of our annual student showcase.

Phil Barton's photographic work - accompanied by installations staged by his partner Helena Kettleborough - addressed issues of humanity's relationship with the natural world, exploring urgent concerns of climate change and species loss.

Phil was interviewed by our radio station's Will Dell during the exhibition's opening night. Phil told Will: "It's been fantastic. As soon as I saw the space I thought this is what I want to exhibit in. It's a really quite interesting space - it's been great."

Head of Media Dr Alec Charles added: "This is a timely and fascinating exhibition that demonstrates both expressive power and imaginative sensitivity. Its use of our gallery space is innovative, unexpected and extraordinary. This is a great opportunity for all of our students - and in particular our photography students - to see some fantastic photography and artwork within the context of well considered and highly skilled curation and display."
