Our journalism students are about to relaunch their news website for the new academic year!

Launched last year, chestermedia.co.uk showcases news stories, features and videos written and produced by the university’s Journalism, Music Journalism and Sports Journalism programmes.

The site is directly managed by about 30 third-year journalism students as part of their Journalism Management module. The students carry out a range of duties, including designing the structure of the site, managing its content and mentoring first year journalism students who produce news stories and other content on a regular basis throughout the year. They are also planning to include links to broadcast material produced by our radio and TV students.

This year’s new content will be going live on the site during November.

Journalism Management module leader Ato Erzan-Essien said: “The overall purpose of the website is three-fold. First, to showcase the work produced by our students on the programme throughout the year. Second, to enable students to gain experience of what it’s like to work on a live media platform. This leads to the third aim which is to provide opportunities for students to have their work published to a wider public audience.”
