Call for Papers

Theme

The theme for the conference this year will be Celebrating Teaching Excellence. The goal will be to highlight excellence across faculties and support departments/professional services.

Areas of interest

There is a particular interest in sessions involving active learning and how to make the student experience interactive. Another important aspect related to this is evaluating learning and teaching methods and developing student understanding of how and why we use particular methods in relation to factors such as learning outcomes, collaboration, independent learning, study skills and so on.

Structure

  • Submissions are welcome from academic faculties and support/professional services staff
  • Sessions will be facilitated by faculty Senior University Teaching Fellows (SUTFs).
  • Sessions will last for 35 minutes.
  • Academic Sessions – these will be hosted jointly by two faculties, with each presenting a minimum of 2 case studies/ papers
  • Support/professional services staff sessions - colleagues can choose to present sessions related solely to their own department/area of work or may wish to partner with other support areas or academics. It is recommended that these sessions are delivered in collaboration with other support staff and/or academics, rather than by one individual

Abstract submission

Academic staff are encouraged to approach their faculty SUTF if they have any questions about possible contributions whilst support/professional services staff should obtain guidance from Kay Dutton, Senior Academic Development Advisor in the LTI (kay.dutton@chester.ac.uk).

  • Faculty of Science and Engineering:  Please contact Dr Neil Pickles, SUTF for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Life Sciences (n.pickles@chester.ac.uk)

If you are interested in contributing to the sessions, please complete the proposal form.
