MSc Management students at the University of Chester Business School have praised their University experience through the latest Postgraduate Taught Experience survey.

The survey is published by the Higher Education Academy and is the only UK higher education sector-wide survey to gain insight from taught postgraduate students about their learning and teaching experience. The students, who completed their Master’s degrees at the University’s Queen’s Park Campus, indicated their satisfaction with the teaching on their courses and the support they received throughout.

92.3% of students agreed that staff are enthusiastic about what they are teaching and good at explaining things, while 100% felt engaged with the course and encouraged to contribute. Just under 90% rated the teaching as supportive.

The suite of MSc Management degrees was relaunched in 2017 to include International Business, International Finance and Marketing Management. The degrees attracted 53 students last year, with a diverse mix in terms of age experience and culture.

The Business School welcomed international students from across the globe, including countries as far afield as Mongolia, Taiwan, Cameroon, Bangladesh, China and Azerbaijan; helping students learn from each other about management across the world.

All the graduands will be invited to attend their graduation ceremonies at Chester Cathedral in March.

One international student, Rebecca Bohn, aged 24, from Neuss, a town near Düsseldorf in Germany, has already secured her dream job in marketing before she even finished the course. She now works as a Marketing and Audience Development Assistant at Rapid News Communications, a B2B publisher and exhibition organiser in Chester.

Rebecca studied the MSc in Management with Marketing and said: “I acquired a solid foundation of skills that prepared me for my new role. I started work in mid-October and I am focusing on driving the subscriptions of our magazines on a global scale.”

Rebecca is grateful that her MSc has given her a platform to begin building her career and enhancing her knowledge. She said: “The MSc has contributed significantly to my employability and has prepared me for my future, both professionally and personally. It gave a really useful insight into Management and Marketing, especially for students like me who had never studied these subjects before. The tutors also offered great support throughout the programme of study and were always available to help students reach their full potential.”

The next intake for the full-time MBA and MSc courses at both the Chester and Warrington Campuses is in February 2018. For more information, please contact Programme Leader, Stuart Paul: s.paul@chester.ac.uk or visit www.chester.ac.uk/management-masters.
