Amy Hollis has been working as a Creative Project Manager since she graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BA in Production Management and Technical Theatre. She spent a number of years as a freelance events and theatre management professional before beginning to take on Project Management roles in the private sector.

She now works as Business Development Coordinator for a start-up Health and Social Care company called Adjuvo Care and Support and is the designated project management lead on all acquisitions. She still likes to spend time volunteering to run charity events, particularly sporting events with two of her favourite charities, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and The PACE Centre.

Level Five Events Management student and President of the Events Society, Chloe Clarke, said she felt a renewed enthusiasm for gaining as much experience in the industry as possible and making the most of her degree at the University after the lecture.

Chloe said: “Amy was able to give the class a better understanding of what would be expected of us as graduates in our future industry and gave a variety of helpful tips on issues many graduates face such as gaining experience. One of her tried and tested remedies for this issue is to volunteer, volunteer, volunteer. Fortunately, as a student of the University of Chester we are constantly provided with new and diverse ways to volunteer and build our skillsets.

“This session was just one of many guest lectures available to us on our course; however, it was a particularly important one for all Events Management students as we prepare our assessments focusing on real-life Event Project Management case studies in industry. We can now refer back to Amy’s range of industry experiences for guidance.”

Emily Brogden, Senior Lecturer in Events Management at the University of Chester, said: “This was an invaluable session for our Event Management students. Having focused on the theory and practice of Events Project Management in the lecture room and PC Labs since the start of term, it was the perfect opportunity for students to hear from an industry professional, and analyse whether what they’ve been learning actually happens in ‘real life’!

“In addition to providing an interesting and informative narrative about her career in Events and Project Management, Amy also offered some excellent advice and guidance in careers and employability. With less than 18 months until graduation, our level 5 students were privileged to have received such detailed and specific advice!”
