Jarred Cooper Jones, aged 23, from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, graduated from the University in 2016 after studying Advertising and Radio Production at the Warrington Campus. He currently hosts his early morning weekend show, which is broadcast on 22 other stations across the UK.

Jarred said: “The show is so much fun, I absolutely love it! It is an entertainment magazine programme, playing the best new music. I got the job by emailing in my demo to the station manager, who liked the sound of it and offered me a show. I previously had an internship at another radio station. I applied to literally hundreds of different stations with no luck, I nearly gave up many times! Sometimes you have to just keep trying and eventually you'll get there.”

During his time at the University, Jarred worked at Warrington Campus’s CAT radio station. He said: “What made me want to study at the University were the amazing facilities that where available. The CAT radio is amazing! The fact that the studios have such a high-tech industry standard set-up is great. Also, the fact that your degree work is actually used to create programmes that will be broadcast on the CAT station makes it feel even more important.”

Michelle Ponting, Radio Production Programme Leader at the Warrington Campus of the University of Chester, added: "Jarred was the lead presenter of the Student Radio Chart show, for which the The Cat Radio won a Silver award at the national Student Radio Association awards. His weekly radio show also won awards within the University. He's a confident presenter and I am more than happy to see him get this job. It's a national radio programme within the Bauer Radio group - what an amazing start to his career."

You can listen to Jarred’s show on Hits Radio Manchester every Saturday and Sunday from 1am-6am.
