National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH)

The National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) is a globally recognised health and safety qualification that is held by more than 1,000,000 people in the UK and world-wide.

 It covers the main legal requirements for safety, a range of workplace hazards, and methods of control. Many people take the NEBOSH Certificate as a first step on a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview in health and safety, and is a sound basis for further professional study.

This certificate would appeal to managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues.

The certificate syllabus is based on the Employment National Training Organisation standards. These are reviewed regularly to keep up with developments in the workplace and in legislation.

Awareness of risks and hazards in the working environment is an essential skill for health and safety practitioners. The NEBOSH Certificate is accepted by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. It is also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management for associate membership.

Management of Health and Safety

This module aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop awareness of risks and hazards in the working environment. Specifically, students will develop awareness of the structures, processes and procedures for the identification and management of health and safety in the workplace setting. Additionally, students will consider the impact of health and safety policy on the provision of a healthy working environment.

 

Controlling Workplace Hazards

This module aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to gain an understanding of the major risks to health in the working environment. Specifically, students will develop an in-depth knowledge of the processes for the identification and control of common occupational hazards.

Entry requirements include:

  • The NEBOSH general certificate requires no previous health and safety knowledge
  • A minimum of English/Communications at general standard or equivalent
  • IELTS level 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in each band
