Why study this course?

Work in Marketing and Public Relations is varied, fast moving and ever-changing. One day you may be running a press conference for a celebrity or charity, another organising a high profile event, such as the Mercury Music Awards, booking an advertising campaign or arranging sponsorship for a client, like Juicy Couture or Shell.

It is a profession which is growing and becoming more influential. Recent research estimates there are now 48,000 people working in communications roles in the UK and, according to the CIPR and CIM, our communications industry is the most highly developed in Europe; second only to the US globally. This is a career with an international dimension as well as national and global opportunities.

Our students have the opportunity to learn about, analyse and apply new ideas and concepts about such issues as reputation management, media relations, creative campaign development and strategic marketing within a management, business and creative context.

The assessment is student-friendly and the knowledge you acquire will be put to use in our in-class 'real life' scenarios. You'll be taught by expert staff. Our team have worked for leading agencies, published cutting edge work on marketing management and worked at all levels in the public and private sector.

Assessment is through a combination of portfolios, online tests, assignments, examinations, group and individual projects, presentations and seminar contributions.

Our graduates offer added value to any organisation which needs to communicate (and all do) in any sector, public or private; as well as in marketing and public relations. Career paths include Marketing Manager, Press Officer, Public Relations Manager, Public Affairs Manager, Corporate Communications, Communications Consultant, Media Manager, Media Analyst, Charity Campaigner, Event Manager, Lobbyist... the list is endless.
