What we do

Schools and Colleges Liaison

Our Schools and Colleges Liaison work is primarily aimed at Year 12 and 13 students and their teachers, advisers and parents from across the North West.  We offer a range of activities to support schools, academies and colleges.   We attend local HE and careers fairs at the school, academy or college, deliver a variety of talks and workshops on specialist topics such as student finance and making an effective application through UCAS, and undertake ‘mock interviews’.   We also offer the opportunity for students to come and visit the University.

The activity delivered with schools and colleges will predominantly focus on Key Stage 5, and the process of offering support and guidance to students with their decisions/choices after school or college.

• Introduction to HE
• Choosing a course/university
• Student Finance
• The UCAS application process
• Information about the University of Chester and our courses
• Student life

The talks are designed to encourage and support students through the application process, whilst informing them about what the University has to offer.   We arrange bespoke presentations for individual schools or year groups, including subject specific talks, delivered by University lecturers.    We also attend UCAS HE fairs/conventions held at schools and colleges within the sub region and aim to work with any requests that we receive from schools and colleges further afield.
