Oliver Jones is in the first year of his combined honours degree in Creative Writing and English.

His mind is a desert,

flat and round and

run by two people -

and at loggerheads,

but united against a

wider foe: sand.

Bound by blood,

they contradict and

undercut each-other.

They reach new worlds

and clash with every

pulse. Every grain of

thought scatters away

with the audience until

the fight is done.

His brother gets buried

while he stays in force.

He builds a whole

city but remains tough and

bound - suckling the wolf’s

teat - that taught him the right

mode of attack and the

danger of sound.
