About

Pandora’s Box is the creative writing publication of the University of Chester. It is edited each year by students of the Department of English, under the guidance of a General Editor.

For 2012-13, our Editors are Joanne Durber, Alexandra Little, Richard Rintoul, and Nancy Sandland.

Pandora’s Inbox was established in 2010, as the online home of Pandora’s Box, allowing us to publish student and staff writing all year round. A selection of the best writing that appears in Pandora’s Inbox will appear in the paper publication of Pandora’s Box (the next edition, Issue 11, will be launched in May 2013).

Pandora’s Box was founded in 2003 by Dr Ashley Chantler (Senior Lecturer in the Department of English). The inaugural issue was published in May 2003. Since 2009 Dr Francesca Haig (Senior Lecturer in the Department of English) has been General Editor. Pandora’s Box has published writing by both students and staff at the University of Chester. Several of the students published have gone on to do the department’s MA in Creative Writing, and to publish their work elsewhere.

Pandora’s Box also runs a popular series of open-mic nights, held at the Vicarage. See our ‘Notice Board’ for details of upcoming open-mic nights (and other writing-related events).
