Programme Structure

The content of the programme takes into account the need for Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practice practitioners to develop high levels of expertise in three domains of:

  • Applied Paediatric Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology
  • Paediatric Clinical Skills
  • Application of Advanced Paediatric Clinical Skills to practice

The modules have internal integrity and are linked together to form a coherent programme of learning, but may also be undertaken as stand alone modules.

Routes exist for the PGCertificate to be further developed into a PGDiploma or MSc/MA degree award.

Students will be exposed to a variety of assessment methods designed to ensure that the content, outcomes and level of the modules are measured in a fair and transparent manner.

Examples:

  • include assignments
  • case presentation
  • examination
  • and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

All aspects of the assessment strategy will be used to evaluate transferable/key skills and, where relevant, mapped against national standards.

Advanced roles are expanding in all settings where child, young people and family health care takes place.

It is expected that a range of career backgrounds will access this course and further developments in paediatric practice will open up future opportunities for students who have successfully completed these modules over the coming years.

CRB status is the responsibility of the student's employer, to be verified on enrolment to the programme by the University of Chester Admissions Office:
